2008 PROGRAM

With three international titles to his name in the last three years, Barry Clark is Scotland’s next major motorsport hero in the making.

In 2008 Barry (25), from Ellon near Aberdeen, will be one of only two Britons – and the first Scotsman since the late Colin McRae - to compete under manufacturer team status in the World Rally Championship. He will take on at least three WRC rounds - one as a nominated points scorer for Munchi’s Ford World Rally Team and two as part of the Stobart VK M-Sport Ford World Rally Team - in the championship-winning Ford Focus prepared by M-Sport.

2007 was a spectacular year for the Scotsman, winning five of the opening seven rounds of the highly competitive one-make Fiesta SportingTrophy International series to claim the overall trophy with the Stobart Motorsport team. The prize for that success - a WRC round in a Ford Focus RS WRC07 - has allowed Clark to gain additional funding to compete on a total of three events this year in the Focus RS; Turkey, Corsica and GB.

With his sights set on his first forays into the elite level of rallying, the young Scot will continue to strive towards achieving his ultimate aim – bringing home the World Rally Championship crown.

Barry Clark dominated FST International in 2007

After contesting the Scottish and British Rally Championships from 2000 to 2004, Barry joined the Stobart Motorsport team in 2005 and competed in a Subaru Impreza GpN car with great effect. His true potential was shown to all when he clinched the highly competitive Group N category of the British Championship.

In 2006, he competed again for Stobart Motorsport but this time in a highly competitive Fiesta Super 1600 and partnered former official BP-Ford WRC driver Roman Kresta. He won the Junior WRC Rookie award in 2006 after contesting the Junior WRC in a Fiesta ST and in 2007 he was crowned the Fiesta Sporting Trophy International overall champion.
